Hello everyone, my name is Deborah and I am the founder of the Instagram account and blog JeMeRecycle, on which I talk about various subjects around responsible consumption , a healthier and more natural lifestyle and above all respectful of the environment. environment. I share all my information and tips for consuming consciously and responsibly on a daily basis.
Today, I dedicate a large part of my daily life to campaigning for more responsible consumption. I describe myself as an “eco-fashion activist” and I like to try to find more responsible alternatives to our purchases. I believe that as consumers we have the greatest power: to decide to support brands through our purchases. Thus, we all have the opportunity to choose the impact we want to give to our money and to participate on our scale in building a more sustainable world.
My eco-responsible commitment, I owe it to a trigger, an awareness: Passionate about cosmetics and makeup, it was by realizing the harmful substances that we put on our skin that I became aware of the drift of overconsumption. I gradually changed my habits to try to choose healthier products. Then from cosmetics, I moved on to my diet and my wardrobe. And when we are in the process of wanting to consume better for ourselves, we quickly become interested in the impact of our consumption on the environment. We have two homes: our body and our planet and it is this awareness that encourages me every day to do my best.
In this sense, I wanted to ensure that my activities were in line with my commitments. This is why I share information and tips every day on Instagram to consume better on a daily basis. To know is to choose and share my knowledge and my own way of acting.
I also co-founded a marketplace for fashion and home items created from recycled or upcycled materials using the principle of upcycling.
The way I perceive the world around me and the way I interact with others has been strongly influenced by my readings and the people I have met. There is nothing more enriching than opening up to others. Opening up to others means opening up to the world.
I like to think that the desire to support noble causes is contagious. So if I had to give advice to those who haven't yet taken the plunge: Be curious. Ask yourself the question when making your next purchase: where and how was what you want to buy made? Under what conditions and with what materials? Being aware of the impact of manufacturing an object or a piece of clothing is a first step to choosing it better and, above all, taking care of it. And taking care of what we have will be the best way to make it last over time and reduce our waste. And then, if it's already too restrictive for you, simply start by changing banks, that will already be a lot.
However, adopting a more ethical and responsible lifestyle is not a linear process; I myself always use industrial toothpaste! I haven't yet found the zero-waste natural toothpaste that really gives me the impression of having brushed my teeth... so, I might as well laugh about it: lightness above all!
